Universities and other higher education providers welcome approximately 30,000 disabled students each year and they have specialist staff to support and enhance their experience from application to graduation.

When considering their higher education options, it’s a good idea for disabled students to contact universities and colleges as early as possible to discuss any support they might need as early as possible – even before making an application.

STAART – (Support Through *AccessAbility Retention and Transition)

The STAART initiative, formerly the *AccessAbility Project, run by the University of Greenwich, supports prospective and current students who have a disability; long-term health condition; specific learning difficulty; and/or mental health condition.

The support mechanisms aim to prepare students for the reality of university for disabled students.

STAART offer a varied calendar of events that disabled students considering Higher Education can attend throughout the year, including several in-person events and online webinars.
